Decent answers will do.
Can someone summarize how the BASIC computer programming developed?
In computer programming, BASIC (an acronym for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code[1]) refers to a family of high-level programming languages. The original BASIC was designed in 1963, by John George Kemeny and Thomas Eugene Kurtz at Dartmouth College, to provide access for non-science students to computers. At the time, nearly all use of computers required writing custom software, which was something only scientists and mathematicians tended to do. The language (in one variant or another) became widespread on microcomputers in the late 1970s and home computers in the 1980s. BASIC remains popular to this day in a handful of highly modified dialects and new languages based on BASIC such as Microsoft Visual Basic.

Reply:Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.
-Developed initally in a Fortran II type langauge.
-BASIC was a FREE language, easy enough for beginners, flexible enough for experts, which helped the boom especially during the mid-70's with the "Altair" computers.
-The 80's brought in the personal computer, which BASIC boomed, bring in multiple variations like Turbo Basic, QBasic (or QuickBasic), and CBasic. This is also the time that it allowed much more flexibility using better structured programming.
-The "New" Basic, or "VisualBasic" was developed by Microsoft in the 90's and is the leading, and one of the last "BASIC" development packages. VisualBasic, when released, was nothing more than a coughed up version of QBasic that had an IDE development that allowed easier programming of Windows Based GUI applications.
-Visual BASIC today is now on the same page with Object Oriented Programming as C++ and C#. While it has it's own variances, it's now developed into a full functioning development platform, with it's only limitation being it is Operating System Dependant (which ALL versions of BASIC have always been).

Reply:Visual basic evolved from BASIC(Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code). The BASIC language was created by Professors John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz of Dartmouth College in the mid 1960s(Deitel%26amp;Deitel, 1999) . It is a carefully constructed English-Like language basically used by the programmers to write simple computer programs. It served the purpose of educating laymen like we all the basic concepts of programming. From then on many versions of BASIC were developed to accommodate different computer platforms. Some of the versions are Microsoft QBASIC, QUICKBASIC, GWBASIC ,IBM BASICA, Apple BASIC and etc. Apple BASIC was developed by Steve Wozniak, a former employee of Hewlett-Packard and a good friend of steve Jobs(the founded of Apple Inc.). Steve Jobs had worked with Wozniak in the past (together they designed the arcade game "Breakout" for Atari). They pooled their financial resources together to have PC boards made, and on April 1st, 1976 they officially formed the Apple Computer Company.

What is computer programming and how to programmed a computer?
The C programming language is a standardized imperative computer programming language developed in the early 1970s by Dennis Ritchie for use on the Unix operating system. It has since spread to many other operating systems, and is one of the most widely used programming languages. C is prized for its efficiency, and is the most popular programming language for writing system software, though it is also used for writing applications. It is also commonly used in computer science education, despite not being designed for novices.
But for 'C' program i can't show it here...you'll have to purchase a Book on 'C' Programming language on how to perform the syntax programs:)

Is computer programming / system maintenance like chess ?
In chess you'd presumably try to add reliability at each move.
Is computer programming / system maintenance like chess ?
No they have it working perfect and some geek has to NEW %26amp; IMPROVED sucks worse than before?
Reply:I wish it were that simple, but it is not.

With the ever growing amount of AI in computer based programming and development...?
Should our justice system now be handled by an Artificial Intelligence system?
Meaning, on a state level, and basically tested in divorce and traffic court, should America use a computer program with AI to determine the right course of action. Replace judges and lawyers with this system. This can be discussed in greater detail in a forty to fifty page thesis, but I was curious about the general Idea being brought into reality.
With the ever growing amount of AI in computer based programming and development...?
Judges interpret past findings, and the judiciary is unfortunately political now. The POTUS appoints hundreds of judges and they can forward a political ideology through interpretation of the law. So the question I would ask you is, what kind of computer would you have? Liberal, conservative, constructionist? Would the president be able to move the findings to the left of the right?
Reply:Ok, sorry about that, for more clarification, I would say "Yes" for mundane things such as traffic violations and divorce court, where there are no shades of gray. However, the bureaucracy would never cut the jobs that would be required to file these cases. Report It
Reply:Obviously you are not a computer scientist like me :)
That being said, I would expect that law firms DO use various simulation, data-mining and statistical prediction techniques, although to call them AI is kinda cute and quaint, in a "nothing after 1978 ever happened at all" kid of way.
If nothing else, managing huge discovery "data banks" in class action cases, requires advanced searching and inference techniques.
Reply:I don't like the idea of actual justice...
Reply:Tell you what, if you can get a 100% accurate program to call sporting events and replace referees and umpires first, then we can talk about it.
Also, there is no such thing as AI. Computers can only do what they are programmed to do and are therefore not intelligent.

Is there a career out in the world where I can use Computer Graphics and Programming?
I like computer graphics and programming but can't think of a good career that does both.
Is there a career out in the world where I can use Computer Graphics and Programming?
Designing games maybe
Reply:Don't tell me that you've never seen a Flash movie, advertisement, or similar?
Flash is programming graphic images using a language called Actionscript.
Since you're interested in these subjects, I'd suggest you go to the adobe/macromedia web site and check out actionscript.
Reply:Flash uses Actionscript as its programming language and is the standard way to do 2d graphics and animation on the web.
If you want a hand at more complex graphics and animation like 3D you need to learn something like C/C++ and a popular Game engine or graphics toolkit...
Good luck!
Reply:I've worked on business graphics applications that consisted of customizing a graphics engine at a very low level to produce sophisticated mapping applications where graphic objects were associated with database records that could be used to modify the object's appearance and location. Companies who use or market GIS (geographic information systems) use computer graphics and hire programmers to help them build, customize or implement GIS systems. Image types include vector graphics, raster images, animations, video, etc.
See www.esri.com, usa.autodesk.com or www.bentley.com. These companies hire programmers and graphic application specialists, but companies that use these applications hire them also.
Reply:most people do either one or the other, but games programming would be suited to both.
depends on what level of programming you are at, and if you know about 3d modeling etc. as most games use 3d models these days, instead of the standard "2d" type gfx.
Reply:Specialisation is the key to success. Stay focus in one for it's so much to cover. Wouldn't you agree?

What college is best for you if you are interested computer programming and networking.?
I am a sophomore in high school and my GPA is about 3.40 and i plan to raise it over 3.50 so what college will be best for me if i want to be a computer programmer and also pretty advanced in networking because even the smallest of the smallest business have a network and they also need programmers
What college is best for you if you are interested computer programming and networking.?
The best college in the USA for computer programming is the Massachussets Institute of Technology.
It is a very difficult school to get into. Unless you have top grades and excellent SAT or ACT scores you just can't get into it. Nowadays, many students take honors classes and have a GPA that is over 4.0.
Many of the computer programming jobs are going overseas. This field isn't as good as it used to be.
Good luck.
Reply:well the best school is MIT as people have mentioned but the chances of getting into MIT is so difficult that even 4.0+ students with near perfect SAT scores might not get in.
The 2nd best is CIT Cal Institute Technology but that school is about just as hard to get into as MIT.
those schools are most likely out of your reach so go after schools like Cal Poly or just the best school you can get into generally.
In your here in CA, San Jose State actually has one of the best computer programs in CA despite being a state. It has a lot to do with it being here in Silicon Valley.
Reply:I work as a programmer and my brother is in the networking field. Neither of us have a college education, so it is not necessary to have a career in these fields, but I will add that if you do have a degree it will be easier for you to find good jobs with higher pay.

Which books should I start with to learn computer Network programming, PHP, Perl and MySQL?
I want to learn network programming, scripting, web development using scripting languages. There are so many books in the market and every one of them claims to be the best. So I need first hand informations and tips to choose the correct book both for beginner's and advanced level users.
Which books should I start with to learn computer Network programming, PHP, Perl and MySQL?
It appears that the question period has expired. If you have received an answer that meets your needs, please choose one of those as a 'best answer.' If you haven't received a good answer for your question, you may want to consider the following,
1) Re-post your question. Newer questions get more activity on Yahoo! Answers than old ones.
2) If you do re-post your question, consider why it wasn't answered the first time. Could it be more specific? Could it be worded better? Were there grammatical or spelling errors? Was it in the best category?
If it doesn't seem likely that re-posting your question will help you, then here's a listing of my favorite 'answer sites'. Maybe one of them will help you.

Reply:I learned the basics of PHP and SQL by looking at the tutorials on W3Schools, but for the most part I'd recommend downloading the official documentation, linked below. If you don't already have a program to run PHP and MySQL on your computer, I'd highly recommend XAMPP. Practicing with them is the best way to learn.
